When I want to add variety, please loved ones and just decorate the usual recipes - food dyes will come to the rescue. These are special safe pigments in liquid, gel or powder form. They are used in industrial production, and they can also be safely added to their own culinary experiments. They are especially good in confectionery business - for decorating cakes, pies, donuts, ice cream and other desserts.
Food dyes knew even in ancient Egypt and Greece, where they tinted sweets with wine, carrot juice, beets and turmeric. The Aztecs mined pigments even from insects, and in the Mediterranean they evaluated mollusks in the Mediterranean. But over time, dishes with food dyes, synthesized artificially, appeared. However, some natural pigments, such as vegetable juices, papriki and turmeric, are still using it so far!
